Analysis of Brief Resources

To analyse the brief we want to fully understand what is being asked, and check for any constraints along the way. Here are some ways you can analyse a brief:

  • Highlight keywords within the brief

  • Mindmap main areas/words and expand on meaning

  • Discussion with others

Keywords
What are the most important words?
What am I being asked?"
Example:
"Design and make a decorative container to store spare change securely"
Mindmaps help us to explore an idea or break down a brief. This can make it easier to understand the question or problem.

Mindmaps can use both words and sketches to explore the brief.
Discussion with other students can help us understand and give us a different view.

What do you think this word means?
What are the constraints here?
I think the key words here are...
